Backend engineer in distributed systems

One of Berlin’s best-known scale-ups: profitable, well funded, and still growing fast. Its product is used by millions of people around the world, and the business is now investing heavily in engineering, with a large number of senior hires planned across several new and growing teams. You’ll join cross-functional teams of engineers, product managers, designers and data specialists. Engineers here aren’t handed tickets. They own what they build from the first idea to production, and they have a real say in what gets built next.

Задачи

• Building and scaling distributed backend systems that handle real-time data for millions of users
• Designing, launching and learning from A/B experiments alongside product and data teams
• Owning features end to end: shaping requirements with stakeholders, building, shipping and measuring the impact
• Improving reliability, observability and code quality as the platform grows
• Mentoring other engineers and helping hire the next wave of the team
• Using AI tools in your day-to-day work, and helping shape how the team adopts them

Требования

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with recent hands‑on Java (Kotlin is great too)
• Experience designing and running scalable, reliable services in production
• A habit of connecting your work to measurable outcomes for customers and the business
• Strong testing habits and a focus on maintainable code
• Clear communication in English (no German needed)

• E-commerce, consumer product or marketplace experience
• Frontend exposure (Vue, React or TypeScript)
• Start‑up or scale‑up experience

Условия

• Base salary up to €120k+, plus virtual share options
• Company pension, a €1,000 yearly learning budget and a mentorship programme
• Hybrid working: three days a week in a central Berlin office, plus 30 days a year working from anywhere
