Your responsibilities will include:Deliver Agentic AI SolutionsDesign, develop and deploy advanced Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions for industrial business challengesArchitect multi-agent systems, AI assistants and intelligent workflows that combine reasoning, retrieval, tools ad business logicBuild trustworthy chatbot solutions that integrate multiple data and knowledge sources into a coherent user experienceDevelop custom AI logic, orchestriation workflows and integrations beyond standard document-based chatbotsTechnology Innovation & AI LeadershipMonitor and evaluate the latest developments in Large Language Models, Agentic AI, AI framework and emerging technologiesAssess new technological opportunities from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft and open-source communitiesAdvise the Date Science team and IT platform teams on technology choices, architecture and implementing strategiesContribute to the evolution of Umicore's Generative AI roadmap and technical capabilitiesWho we are looking forMaster's degree in Computer Science, Artifical Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science or related fieldMinimum 3 years of experience developing industrial, agentic systemsDemonstrated experience delivering at least one custom Generativ AI application that goes significantly beyond basic document processing or retrievalExperience working directly with business stakeholders and domain expertsIndustrial or academic background in chemistry, material science, process technology or automotive applications is considered as strong assetStrong practical expertise in Generative AI and Large Language Model technologiesExperience in desigining AI agents, multi-agent architectures and tool-enabled AI systemsKnowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation, knowledge grounding and trustworthy AI design principlesExperience integrating multiple information and data sources into a unified AI solutionStrong software engineering and Python programming skillsAbility to evaluate emerging AI technologies and translate them into practical business value What we offer We aim to lead the way.

Which is where you come in.Your Key AccountabilitiesAs a Data Scientist based in Hanau, you will play a key role in the development and deployment of next-generation Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions within Umicore.

You will work at the intersection of AI technology and business expertise, closely collaborating with domain experts to transform highly specialized knowledge into practical AI applications.You will shape the future of Synthetix, Umicore's internally developed Generative AI platform, by designing, implementing and scaling advanced AI asistants and agentic workflows that support research, engineering and operational excellence across the complany.
