Your Mission

Backend Engineering

You design, build and maintain the services and RESTful APIs behind our platform with TypeScript, Nest.js, MikroORM and PostgreSQL. You own data models, third-party integrations and async workflows built on BullMQ and AWS SQS, including background jobs, retries and scheduled sync.

Architecture & Scalability

You make the calls on how our systems are structured, how they scale and how they stay maintainable as we grow. Performance, data integrity and clean interfaces are your responsibility.

Infrastructure & Deployment

You ship to production on AWS. If something breaks, you find out why and fix it at the root.

Full-Stack When Needed

You're comfortable working in our Next.js, React and Tailwind frontend to ship a feature end to end, even if the backend is where you spend most of your time.

Business-driven Engineering

You understand what you're building and why. You connect technical decisions to outcomes like conversion, speed and automation, and act without being asked.

AI-native Development

You use AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code as a core part of your workflow, as a real lever for speed and quality.

What You Bring

Experience

5+ years building production systems, with a clear focus on backend.

Backend Stack

You have strong skills in TypeScript, Nest.js, PostgreSQL and Docker, plus hands-on experience with job queues and messaging (BullMQ/Redis, SQS or similar). You design solid schemas, write efficient queries, build reliable, idempotent consumers and ship APIs.

Infra

Some experience with AWS and GitLab CI/CD.

Frontend

Working knowledge of Next.js, React and Tailwind. You don't need to be a UI specialist, but you ship frontend changes when a feature needs them.

Ownership

You solve problems end to end, from architecture to implementation, deployment and iteration. You start things without being told and see them through.

Communication

Clear communicator in English. German is a plus.

In the adjacent co-living space, you have the option to rent a private room independently - right next to the Aampere office and with a view of the Ferris wheel.

Aampere isn't for you if...

• you want to work mostly remote. We believe the best ideas happen when people are in the same room. That is why you are in our office at least four days a week.
• you want to walk into ready-made processes and structures. A lot of that does not exist here yet. We are looking for people who build structures and processes, not people who administer them.
• you need a finished plan before you start. Seed stage means a lot is unclear and changes week to week. You have to be comfortable making decisions in the dark and correcting course as you go.
• you want to stay in your lane. "That is not my job" is not a thing here. You jump in where it matters, even when it sits outside your job description.
• you want a classic 9-to-5. We are building something big, and that does not happen on the side. The people here want to go all in, not just put in the time.
