The role covers both the screen and the server: building React and TypeScript interfaces for large medical images, and Python and Django services that feed them AI results. A strong candidate has about three years of shipping production web apps, handles heavy data on screen without slowing down, and is comfortable owning features from first prototype to release. Working closely with pathologists and designers matters as much as the code.

How it fits the AI era

AI models produce huge amounts of output, such as millions of cell-level predictions, and this role turns that output into something a doctor can read and trust. Code assistants can speed up routine UI and API work, but judgment about what a pathologist needs to see, and how to show it clearly, stays with people. Reliability and accessibility in a medical setting also call for careful human review.

How it builds AI experience

Someone in this role would work right beside machine learning teams, learning how model results are produced, delivered through APIs, and reviewed by experts. Annotation tools are part of the job, so there is hands-on exposure to how training data gets collected and checked. A newcomer could prepare by building a small viewer for large images or overlay data and reading up on how digital pathology works.

Worth showing

  • React and TypeScript projects
  • OpenLayers or Canvas work
  • Working with domain experts
