The mission of the Thieme Group is to provide these markets with precisely the information, services, and products they need in their specific work situation and career.Department: Information Technology Start: as soon as possible Contract duration: permanent Working-Hours: Full-Time (40h/Week)Your role & your impactTake ownership of the full development lifecycle, from concept and implementation to production, operations, and continuous improvement.Contribute across the full stack, with a particular focus on backend development, system integrations, and eCommerce functionality.Lead bringing DevOps knowledge and operational ownership into the team by improving deployment processes, monitoring, reliability, and maintainability, in collaboration with our Technical Platform Team (“You build it, you run it”).Work closely with the Product Manager and UX to challenge ideas, clarify requirements, refine solutions, and deliver meaningful value for customers and the business.Bring structure and a pragmatic engineering perspective to evolving priorities, technical challenges, and unclear requirements.Mentor and support less experienced colleagues and help strengthen shared engineering practices across Public Properties.Contribute actively to our product-oriented engineering culture, focusing on sustainable solutions and real customer needs.

Good understanding of scalable, maintainable architecture and modern engineering practices across the full development lifecycle.Experience with production operations, deployment processes, observability, monitoring, testing, and continuous improvement.Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, product-oriented teams.A proactive and pragmatic mindset, strong communication skills, and a willingness to take technical and operational ownership.Experience with Shopware or PHP is a welcome advantage, but not a requirement.

Your focus will be our Webshop, a business-critical eCommerce platform that enables customers to discover and purchase Thieme products. You’ll work in an agile, product-oriented environment and contribute across the full technology stack, with a particular focus on backend development.

As part of our journey toward becoming a true product organization, you’ll help us build maintainable, scalable, and user-focused solutions while working closely with Product, UX, DevOps, and other engineering colleagues.

Employing more than 1,000 staff, the family-owned company develops products and services in digital and other media for the medical and chemistry sectors. The products and services are based on the high-quality content of Thieme's 200 journals and 4,400 books.

With solutions for professionals, Thieme supports relevant information processes in research, education, and patient care. Your profileTech-Stack: TypeScript JavaScript React · Next.js · node.js · PHP · CI/CD · Docker5+ years of hands-on experience building and operating full-stack applications.Strong backend engineering skills and solid frontend understanding.Practical experience with eCommerce platforms or solutions.
