Senior Platform Engineer – Founding Infra & Data

• Own the infrastructure for a K8s-based SaaS platform serving enterprise clients

• Fine-tune the connection handshake between HikariCP, ProxySQL, and XtraDB

• Optimize multiplexing, query routing, and connection pooling to eliminate latency spikes

• Identify and resolve row-level contention and long-running transactions in JobRunr/Quartz database-backed job queues

• Prevent background processing from blocking the XtraDB buffer pool

• Partner with backend teams to optimize Hibernate-generated SQL and connection usage

• Manage the Kubernetes cluster for high availability

• Harden pod termination logic and resource scheduling to protect API stability

• Define the roadmap for moving from database-backed queues to high-throughput messaging such as NATS, RabbitMQ, or Redis

• Collaborate with a team of 15 engineers scaling the SaaS platform

Requirements

• Expertise in ProxySQL, including configuring mysql_query_rules and hostgroups

• Understanding of XtraDB/InnoDB locking models

• Ability to interpret PERCONA_RECAP or slow query logs

• Understanding of HikariCP lifecycle

• Understanding of Hibernate/JPA transaction management

• Ability to identify connection leaks and unoptimized persistence contexts

• Kubernetes expertise, including kubectl, service discovery, ProxySQL backend mapping, and graceful container shutdowns

• Infrastructure as Code proficiency, for example Helm

• Prometheus/Grafana observability experience

• Application and database proxy Golden Signals monitoring knowledge
