Backend / IoT Software Developer – Rust (m/f/d)

Frankfurt Area, Germany | Hybrid | Full-time

We are currently partnering with an established European technology company developing intelligent monitoring and control solutions used in safety-critical infrastructure environments. Their products combine software, electronics and networking technologies, with engineering teams working closely across hardware, embedded systems and backend development to build highly reliable systems.

Due to continued product development and growth of the engineering team, they are looking for a Backend / IoT Software Developer to join their software group. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across backend platforms, IoT connectivity and distributed system components, while contributing to the design and evolution of technically complex products.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend software for monitoring and control platforms using Rust
• Design and integrate interfaces between distributed components and services
• Implement and maintain automated testing (unit and integration)
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies or external services when appropriate
• Take ownership of features from concept and design through to implementation
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions with the wider engineering team

Requirements

• Professional experience in software development
• Solid understanding of web technologies including JSON, REST APIs and WebSockets
• Experience working with Linux environments and development tools
• Experience with Rust or a strong motivation to work with Rust
• Comfortable using Git-based version control systems

Nice to Have

• Experience working with containerised applications
• Exposure to TypeScript or modern frontend technologies
• Interest in IoT systems or hardware-integrated software
