As a Software Engineer (w/m/d) at MKS/Atotech, you will partner with internal teams, customers, and engineering groups to develop, maintain, and support software systems integrated with industrial equipment.

You Will Make an Impact By: • Commissioning and configuring software systems during equipment installation to ensure seamless operation. • Diagnosing and troubleshooting software and system issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiency. • Training customers and internal teams on the proper operation and maintenance of software and equipment systems. • Ensuring software and equipment systems comply with company standards and regulatory requirements. • Managing communication protocols (SECS/GEM, OPC) and supporting fieldbus systems (Modbus, EtherCAT, Profibus). • Travel Requirements: Up to 60% of travel is required for on-site support and commissioning.

This is an industrial software and automation engineering role where you install, configure, troubleshoot, and support software-controlled manufacturing equipment at customer sites, combining programming knowledge with hardware, PLC, networking, and customer-facing work.

Skills You Bring: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Experience in software development, system integration, industrial automation, or a related technical field. • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, mechanical systems, and industrial machinery. • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot software, operating system, and application issues. • Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems. • Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and control systems. • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and maintenance protocols. • Strong problem-solving, communication, customer service, time management, and adaptability skills, with the ability to train and support customers and junior engineers. • Strong English communication skills are required; German and Russian language skills are a plus.

Preferred Skills: • Basic Knowledge of JavaScript and Python: Understanding these programming languages for scripting and automation tasks. • Understanding the Role of MES and ERP Systems: Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and their integration in industrial environments. • Basics of SECS/GEM Communication Concept: Knowledge of the SECS/GEM standards for communication in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. #LI-DZ1 Globally, our policy is to recruit individuals from wide and diverse backgrounds.
