Stellenbeschreibung

AI Futures has been engaged by exciting, venture-backed healthcare AI startup based in Berlin that is developing AI technologies for the next generation of cardiovascular care.

The company has already raised €3M in equity and grant financing, backed by specialist healthcare investors, this is an exciting point in the company's journey: the technology has moved beyond pure R&D, the company has an approved medical-device product, and significant resources are being invested into scaling its research and clinical programmes.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Researcher to join the core AI team and help develop the next generation of machine learning systems for healthcare.

Your work will sit at the intersection of:

The company is developing ML systems capable of detecting subtle changes in a patient's voice and combining these signals with longitudinal physiological and clinical data.

This creates a particularly interesting research environment for someone interested in problems such as:

  • Audio and speech representation learning
  • Self-supervised learning
  • Foundation models for healthcare
  • Physiological signal processing
  • Robustness and generalisation across patients and devices
  • Uncertainty and calibration in clinical ML

As a Senior ML Researcher, you will have significant ownership over research direction and experimentation.

You will:

  • Develop novel models for audio and healthcare time-series
  • Investigate new architectures for sequential and multimodal data
  • Develop self-supervised and representation-learning approaches
  • Design experiments to uncover clinically meaningful signals
  • Work with large-scale longitudinal datasets
  • Build rigorous patient-level evaluation frameworks
  • Investigate model generalisation, uncertainty and robustnessCollaborate directly with clinicians and medical researchers
  • Translate promising research into production-grade healthcare AI
  • Help shape the company's longer-term ML research roadmap
  • Potentially publish research and represent the company within the ML community

This is a role for someone who wants genuine research ownership rather than simply implementing models from a specification.

What we're looking for

  • PhD or equivalent research experience in ML, Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong experience with deep learning and sequential modelling
  • Experience working with time-series, audio, speech or multimodal data
  • Excellent Python and PyTorch/JAX skills
  • A strong research track record
  • Experience independently developing and validating new ML approaches
  • Strong understanding of experimental design and statistical evaluation

Particularly valuable experience:

  • Self-supervised learning
  • Transformers or state-space models
  • Biomedical signals
  • Clinical ML
  • Healthcare or medical-device environments
