Bornholdt Lee GmbH is a Hamburg-based software agency with more than 15 years of experience developing digital solutions, now focused entirely on the digital health sector. The company builds Digital Health Applications (DiGA, "apps on prescription") and other regulated health products, working with interdisciplinary teams covering development, QA, project and product management, UX, and regulatory affairs. Its mission is to improve people's quality of life through evidence-based, user-centred digital health solutions.
The role
The Product Owner sits at the centre of client projects, taking ownership of concept, prioritisation and product strategy from the first idea through to market-ready release. You work closely with clients, design, development, QA and project management, and also contribute to shaping internal product management standards across the agency.
What you would do
- Lead the full product lifecycle from discovery and conception through to implementation and live release, working with clients and an interdisciplinary team.
- Plan and facilitate discovery workshops independently, and translate findings into clear requirements and product decisions.
- Develop target-group-specific solutions using wireframes, and validate them through user interviews and usability tests.
- Write epics and user stories, define testable acceptance criteria, prioritise backlogs, estimate effort with the development team, conduct acceptance reviews and accompany implementation.
- Coordinate the design and software architecture in alignment with clients and other stakeholders.
- Plan timelines and budgets together with project management, and coordinate team effort accordingly.
- Plan and oversee go-lives and take responsibility for store releases.
- Document feature scope in line with regulatory requirements under ISO 13485 / IEC 62304.
- Contribute beyond individual projects by developing methods, processes and internal product management practices, applying AI tools where relevant, and sharing knowledge across the team.
What they are looking for
- At least 3 years of experience in agile development of digital products, ideally as a product manager, product owner, UI/UX designer or concept specialist in a digital health context.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as digital health applications or medical devices (ISO 13485 / IEC 62304).
- Strong knowledge of UX-adjacent methods including design thinking, user interviews and discovery formats.
- Structured problem analysis with the ability to derive clear requirements and develop sound concepts.
- Good technical understanding, and ideally experience integrating AI technologies into products.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to represent decisions, guide stakeholders and bring together different perspectives.
- Awareness of commercial considerations alongside technical ones, including project controlling in collaboration with project managers.
- Fluent German and English (negotiation level in both).
Working arrangements
The role is based in Hamburg with a hybrid model. Flexible location within Germany is possible, with up to 100% remote working available. The position uses trust-based working hours (Vertrauensarbeitszeit).
Pay and benefits
- 30 days annual leave.
- Company pension scheme and supplementary private health insurance.
- Dog-friendly office in central Hamburg.
- Fresh fruit, muesli bar and free drinks, plus a PlayStation and table football.
- Leased bicycles and a Deutschlandticket (Germany-wide public transport pass) for regular office commuters.
- Regular team events, summer parties and Christmas celebrations.
